Custom Gift Set Packaging

There’s something special about working with a business in our own backyard.

For this project, we partnered with Ojai Mountain Farm, a local Ojai restaurant and farm, to create custom packaging for their small-batch spirits. The goal was to develop packaging that felt distinctive and thoughtfully made while staying true to the natural character of the product and brand.

Starting with one of our GreenKraft molded fiber clamshells, we incorporated several custom details to transform a stock package into something uniquely Ojai Mountain Farm.

A Custom Laser-Cut Window and Insert

One of the most distinctive elements of the packaging is the custom cutout on the front of the clamshell.

Using a laser, we created an opening directly in the molded fiber, allowing the bottle inside to become part of the presentation. The window gives customers a glimpse of the product while maintaining the natural texture and protective structure of the clamshell. Laser cuts were all made by Alojai creations, just next door to SPI.

It’s a great example of how a simple modification can give stock packaging an entirely different look.

Inside the clamshell, we created a custom insert specifically around the product.

The insert helps hold the bottle securely in place while creating a more intentional presentation when the package is opened. Because the insert was designed around the product rather than forcing the product into an existing configuration, the finished package feels cohesive from the outside in.

Custom inserts are also a practical and economical way to adapt our stock GreenKraft packaging for products that need additional support, organization, or presentation.

One of our favorite things about this project is that it shows just how far a stock package can go.

Rather than developing an entirely new molded fiber package and custom mold, we started with an existing GreenKraft clamshell and customized it through laser cutting, a custom insert, and screen printing.

Each detail serves a purpose, but together they turn a stock clamshell into packaging that feels specifically designed for the product inside.

And because much of the customization was done right here in Ojai, this project feels especially close to home.

As a small Ojai business, we always enjoy collaborating with other local businesses that share an appreciation for craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and the details that make a product feel special.
