Plastic Free Food Grade Packaging

Plastic Free Packaging Ideas:

Below are some plastic free packaging options that are approved for direct food contact. Combine with our GreenKraft clamshells for a complete sustainable packaging solution.

Foil Wrapper Packaging

Foil Wrappers

Aluminum foil provides a complete barrier to light, oxygen, moisture and bacteria. For this reason, foil is used extensively in food and pharmaceutical packaging. Like aluminum cans, foil wrappers are made from a metal that is highly recyclable.  Check with your local recycle center.

Soy Wax Paper Packaging

Soy Wax Paper

Soy wax paper is compostable, non-toxic, and often made with sustainable materials.  Traditional wax paper is made from paraffin wax, sourced from petroleum.  Soy wax paper is coated with soybean wax, a more eco-friendly option.

Glassine packaging

Glassine

Glassine is a smooth and glossy paper that is air, water and grease resistant. It is made through a manufacturing process called supercalendering.  This is a process of compressing the material with alternating stacks of hard  and soft rolls that give it an enamel-like finish and very smooth quality. Glassine paper is 100% recyclable and biodegradable.

Cellophane packaging

Cellophane

Cellophane is derived from natural sources such as wood, cotton or hemp, unlike plastic wrap, which is made from oil.  Although it is a biodegradable material, the manufacturing process traditionally includes the use of carbon disulfide, a highly toxic material.
